Rendezvous at the River – Part TWO was a GREAT SUCCESS!

Rendezvous at the River – Part TWO was a GREAT SUCCESS!

In 2024 we returned to Tolsona Wilderness Campground for another RV2AK Rendezvous full of fun, food and friendship for what has become Alaska’s Largest RV Rally!

This year we parked 57 RV’s with a total of 112 members in attendance including 6 children. During the 4-day event we had many activities to keep everyone as busy or as relaxed as they wished to be. From a fully catered BBQ arrival dinner from a local MatSu Valley food truck Patriot BBQ and the band TripWire rocking the night away on arrival night, to daily happy hours and campfire gatherings, two group potlucks, a guided group hike to the Tolsona Mud Volcano, RV tours of each other homes on wheels, a instructional make and take painting class, the movie RV shown under the midnight sun and two days of coordinated off-site excursions including Salmon fishing, whitewater rafting and a scenic float, there was something for everyone during the Rally.

Here are a few words from some of the 2024 Rendezvous attendees themselves:

We loved attending the RV2AK rally, we truly enjoyed meeting everyone like Stacey said, we came as strangers and left as family. The rally was definitely a highlight of our trip and know we would have a void in our trip by not attending. Everything was very well organized from the first night social mixer to the great meal we enjoyed by Patriot BBQ to the potluck breakfast and dinner plus all the extra activities were great. I would like to say thank you to all of the sponsors of the rally, we truly appreciate your support. Bob Cahoon from Michigan

“Stacey Quimby and Gary Quimby are planning perfectionists. We were warmly welcomed and this continued throughout the entire rally. They definitely deserve a 5 out of 5 stars. To top off our days at the Rally we won raffle tickets to go on the Glacier Tour with Phillips Cruises out of Whittier and one night at the KOA in Seward. The KOA is always wonderful. The Glacier tour was an experience of a lifetime beginning with the tunnel going to Whittier and ending with a spectacular day on the water viewing wildlife and glaciers. We are very grateful for the very generous donations. We are definitely looking forward to next year!” Nancy Carey from Fairbanks, Alaska

We decided to attend the 2024 Rally, not knowing what to expect. This type of event is normally outside of our comfort zone, but after enjoying the community online, decided to give it a shot.
Stacey and Gary were great hosts, excellent at keeping the large group both entertained, as well as making sure everyone had a great time and the information they needed for events and outings. Overall, the event was well organized and the meeting many many great people from across the US was amazing; different characters and perspectives. The social hours, potluck meals were very enjoyable, Live music topped off one evening fantastically and the waddinger night was a hoot. We are already talking about attending again next year!” George and Danielle from Whitehorse, Yukon, Canada.

We absolutely loved the RV2AK rally and wish we could attend in future years. Gary and Stacey were fantastic hosts. Plenty of opportunities for excursions and activities. The potlucks were amazing and the fellowship was something you don’t experience every day. A huge Thank you to Gary and Stacey and all the sponsors for making this happen.” Linda Lewis from North Carolina

We would also like to thank Cathy and Micheal Pusch with the Tolsona Wilderness Campground in Glennallen for being our Rendezvous host location for the past two years. I know that down the road we will definitely return to Tolsona Wilderness Campground for a future rally but we really love to share Alaska and therefore we try and move our annual rally around the State from year to year.

For 2025 we are very excited to announce our host location at the beautifully restored Historic Chulitna River Lodge at mile marker 156 of the Parks Highway inside Denali State Park. Here our group will enjoy the entire resort property for 5 days and 5 nights where we will take over their Bro Majors Airstrip and park our RVing to Alaska members RV’s to continue the tradition of creating community on the road.

So save the date… July 2-7th, 202 will be our 2025 Rendezvous Under Denali.

Stay tuned for more details in the New Year.
